I own a company that sells batteries. That’s it. Nothing more than just regular old batteries. But how I came to own a thriving internet business is a little more interesting.

I was given a hamster for my 34th birthday. I named him Natalie. He was a good little hamster but I noticed one day after exercising on his wheel that he was short of breath and was trembling. I took him to the vet and was told that he had congenital heart failure and that he needed a pacemaker.

Micro Pacemaker Technology (MPT) has made major advancements over the past several years, but battery technology hasn’t been able to keep up with it. Natalie’s first pacemaker battery pack is pictured below:

Well, I decided I could come up with something much smaller and much better for little Natalie. So I invented the world’s smallest 9.6v 700milliamp battery that we were able to implant inside Natalie. You couldn’t even tell he had a pacemaker (see photo below).

Shortly thereafter, Natalie was able to use his newfound strength to break out of his cage and was subsequently eaten by my Burmese python, Edward. But it’s not a total loss. I later founded Battery Universe, which does very well for me.

This post is in loving memory of Natalie T. Hamster. RIP
